Topic – Engaging the finger of God for divine intervention by faith
GOD WANTS US TO COME AND ASK FOR OUR NEEDS – he promised to hear and answer.
——-Matthew 7:7. Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you: 8. For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened.
—–Psalm 50 – 15. And call upon me in the day of trouble: I will deliver thee, and thou shalt glorify me.
——-Psalm 91 – 15. He shall call upon me, and I will answer him: I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him, and honour him.
——-John 14 – 13. And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. 14. If ye shall ask any thing in my name, I will do it.
Talking about drawing the finger of God —–PRAISING GOD DRAWS THE ATTENTION AND PRESENCE OF GOD Psalm 67:3;5-7 –
Psalm 67:5. Let the people praise thee, O God; let all the people praise thee. 6. Then shall the earth yield her increase; and God, even our own God, shall bless us. 7. God shall bless us; and all the ends of the earth shall fear him.
Ephesians 3:20 -Ephesians 3 – 20. Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us.
——God has power and ability to do all things. Luke 1:37. For with God nothing shall be impossible.
——–He is able to much more than you or I could think or ask
——–St Augustine said – God will not do what he can do unless I do what I can do – i.e. I have to play my part to commit God to do his part.
It seems to me, from the above scriptures, that what you get from God after all our prayers is ACCORDING TO THE POWER that works in you.
Question is, what power is working in you when you come to God?
Is it the power of Fear or the power of Faith?
When you come to God asking with the power of fear, there is the influence of doubt and double-mindedness –
James 1 – 6. But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed. 7. For let not that man think that he shall receive any thing of the Lord. 8. A double minded man is unstable in all his ways.
Doubt is the unspoken language emanating from fear.
E.g. – if I have a piece of cake or packet of sweets in my hand and invite an adult and a child to both come and take it. The adult for fear of embarrassment, humiliation and every irrational thought based on their preconceived ideas will doubt my intention. Whereas a child will run towards me – with faith in my willingness to give him the sweet.
The doubt prevents the adult from coming with a genuine heart and so fear is birthed, and so it will be difficult to receive anything Heb 11:6 –
—–Fear is NOT OF GOD and so he does not give fear to his children- 2 Timothy 1 :7. For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.
—– You have not been given the spirit of bondage, so don’t give fear tenancy in your heart else it will occupy the entire space therein and affect /pollute /contaminate every other part.Romans 8:15. For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father.
—– God is love and can only give you what he is. 1 John 4:16&18. And we have known and believed the love that God hath to us. God is love; and he that dwelleth in love dwelleth in God, and God in him. 18. There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear: because fear hath torment. He that feareth is not made perfect in love.
Faith, on the other hand, believes God / the word of God and the promises of God without doubting.
When Jesus cursed the fig tree, it did not appear like anything happened at the time and so the disciples doubted his word spoken. Until the next day when they walked past the same tree and saw that it had withered from the roots – Mark 11:21; Matthew 21:21
-Faith is the language of the supernatural
– Everything, visible and invisible was created with the word BY faith
– God almighty by faith called the things that are not visible, not already there AS THOUGH THEY WERE.
– Everything created answers to God and must answer to faith.
That story teaches us that FAITH believes without seeing – 2 Corinthians 5:7. (For we walk by faith, not by sight)
– Jesus said you can command a mountain to move and it will move —if you do not doubt in your heart. Mark 11:23. For verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith. 24. Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them.
——-Remember Peter- he asked Jesus to bid him to do what is impossible to man i.e. to walk on water. Peter miraculously walked on water and only began to drown when fear and doubt stepped in. This teaches us that with Faith in the word and commandment of God, we can do the miraculous.
Matthew 14:28. And Peter answered him and said, Lord, if it be thou, bid me come unto thee on the water. 29. And he said, Come. And when Peter was come down out of the ship, he walked on the water, to go to Jesus. 30. But when he saw the wind boisterous, he was afraid; and beginning to sink, he cried, saying, Lord, save me.
——the word said – “according to the power that WORKETH IN YOU”
The spirit of God abides in us because God gave us of his spirit-
1 Corinthians 3:16. Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you?
1 John 3:24. And he that keepeth his commandments dwelleth in him, and he in him. And hereby we know that he abideth in us, by the Spirit which he hath given us.
Jude 1: 20. But ye, beloved, building up yourselves on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Ghost,
Romans 8:11. But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you.
Having the Spirit of God dwelling in you means you can partner with the Holy Spirit to generate the Faith to believe on the word of God and stand on the promises of God.
Stir up the Holy Spirit that resides in you and work with Him to possess the promises of God for your own life. There are certain things you cannot do for yourself, so, for God to divinely intervene in a situation and turn it around, you need to Stir up, work with the Holy Spirit of God and then possess the promised victory for your life.
