Making God Proud.

Can God be proud of you?

Say with me —- O Lord my life shall make you proud

Job experience —-

Job 1:

As parents we are most proud of our children when they achieve a great feat in sports , excellent grades in their studies, graduate with an excellent grade, receive an award from a notable institution, get married, give birth or when they buy a new car or house.

I heard the story of a parent who their own son put his life at risk when killers came to their academic environment and stood up to the killers and hid the students from danger.

How many of our will be proud if your own child was to sacrifice his/her own life for the greater good of others???

In the two classes which child will make you more proud??

God is most proud of you when you are —

Tempted,in trials and you come out as gold with testimony

Job 23 – 10. But he knoweth the way that I take: when he hath tried me, I shall come forth as gold.

Remember that in that trial – marriage difficulty, financial hardship, housing matters, immigration matters, disappointments, persecution, very stubborn and persistent matters that brings pain and the thoughts linger on our hearts – just remember in all these he will never allow us to be tempted or taken beyond our capacity, ability or that which we can endure.

1 Corinthians 10 – 13. There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.

Our obedience and trust is a demonstration that we are happy to make God proud.

Say with me O Lord my life shall make you proud

Abraham believed God and it was counted unto him for righteousness. He was willing to hope against hope, believe the impossible that God will give him a son in his old age through his wife Sarah. And for several years he walked with God but faith.

Many say we love God but we find it hard to have faith in Him. And we know that without faith it is impossible to please God.

Your faith is more important than your obedience. If you have faith in God obedience and trust will come easily. A child of God should not be focused on obedience rather we should be focused on FAITH IN GOD.

When we have faith in God humility becomes easy.

The first time God affirmed Jesus Christ as his beloved son was in his humility and submission to the will of God.

Matthew 3 – 13. Then cometh Jesus from Galilee to Jordan unto John, to be baptized of him. 14. But John forbad him, saying, I have need to be baptized of thee, and comest thou to me? 15. And Jesus answering said unto him, Suffer it to be so now: for thus it becometh us to fulfil all righteousness. Then he suffered him. 16. And Jesus, when he was baptized, went up straightway out of the water: and, lo, the heavens were opened unto him, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove, and lighting upon him: 17. And lo a voice from heaven, saying, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.

We make God proud when we trust him in our adversity ——-//Remember Daniel who said he will not eat the kings meat – why ? He refused to defile himself with evil or idols that is all around him.

Say with me ——— O Lord my life shall make you proud

——-We make God proud when we do not sit or stand with evil men PSA 1:1- Psalm 1 – 1. Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful.

Xxxxxxxx Walk in faith and not by sight

God wants to be proud of us before the devil ——- Job 1 – 8. And the LORD said unto Satan, Hast thou considered my servant Job, that there is none like him in the earth, a perfect and an upright man, one that feareth God, and escheweth evil?

God was proud of Abraham – because he walked with God – not all was rosy for Abraham, but Abraham believed God – to the extent that he was willing to sacrifice his own son – what have you sacrificed for God ? Or what are you willing to sacrifice for God.

We are in the world of collecting, claiming and receiving – but is it not better to give than to receive ?

Job was so obedient and trusting that in his trial he was willing to obey God –

Job 13 – 15. Though he slay me, yet will I trust in him: but I will maintain mine own ways before him. 16. He also shall be my salvation: for an hypocrite shall not come before him.

God is not a magician. Our responsibility is to worship God not because we are expecting blessings, houses, husbands, jobs, etc but because he is our God and we are his children. Much more he loves us and gave us his only son – for eternity. We should be focused on eternal things rather than earthly things. God wants us to be blessed with earthly things be more focused on eternal things.

We are children of God and God wants to be proud of us before angels ——-

Hebrews 1 – 4. Being made so much better than the angels, as he hath by inheritance obtained a more excellent name than they. 5. For unto which of the angels said he at any time, Thou art my Son, this day have I begotten thee? And again, I will be to him a Father, and he shall be to me a Son?

t – to which of the angels did he say sit thou at the right hand side of God

We are children of God and God wants to be proud of us before all MEN – that’s why God will decorate you, bless you prosper you and cause it to be a delightsome land that is full of testimony.

Thank God for the New Testament in Jesus Christ ——

In the New Testament – one of the reasons to remarry is death of a spouse ——

BUT in Old Testament there is a Law –

Deut 25:5-9

See example —

Gen38: 8-10

We are like this man when we don’t like to see others blessed, happy and don’t rejoice with them.

—— can you imagine the wickedness in the heart of the fellow – he enjoys the benefit of the woman but does not want to give joy to the woman or her late brother?

—— Because it’s not your turn, you feel you don’t have to rejoice with those that are rejoicing – can you imagine the sadness we bring to ourselves and to God?

—— the same thing we can say about our church, we want to be the Center of attention and when God focus attention to another person or family we don’t like it.

—- that results when we say let us build for the Lord, let’s evangelise, let’s invite people to church ——we preach and pray and Appeal But we see no results

When are not pleasing to the Lord he deserts us and abandons us.

John 5. We are the branches we cannot survive on our own – we need the vine —- our existence depends on the vine. Our life is in the vine.

Let us recognise this and make extra efforts to make God PROUD.

I pray the Lord will not abandon us

I pray we shall be pleasing to the lord in Jesus name
